About Kimberley A. Barkley

Hi, I’m Kimberley A. Barkley, otherwise known as KB, and I’ve been an insurance broker for over 30 years. At this point, there’s very little I haven’t seen, and along the way, I’ve collected more than a few great stories. Insurance has always been part of my life. My grandfather, Donald Nichol, founded Nichol Insurance Brokers in the 1960s on the West Island of Montreal. Back then, we were cover holders for Lloyd’s of London—a big deal. You didn’t just sell policies; you produced them right in the office. All three of his sons went into the business… although that wasn’t exactly the original plan:

One wanted to be a lawyer
One wanted to be a doctor
One wanted to be a rock star

Take a guess which one my dad was. (Hint: I’m almost deaf and grew up on a bar stool.) So yes, insurance is in my blood, and I followed that path without ever looking back. What’s kept me in this industry for over three decades is simple: I work for my clients, not the insurance companies. That means I’m not here to push a product—I’m here to find the right solution. What might feel complicated or overwhelming to you is something I’ve likely seen before, and I know how to navigate it. I make the process straightforward, seamless, and clear. Over the years, I’ve worked with every type of client, including:
